Privacy Policy

Explore Anglesey

Explore Anglesey does not collect your personal data.

There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. The app asks for no permissions — not your location, camera, contacts, photos or microphone. Everything you save stays on your phone.

What the app stores on your device

Three things, all held locally on your phone and never transmitted anywhere:

WhatWhy
Places you saveSo your saved list is there next time you open the app
Your trip planSo the places you add to morning, afternoon or evening are remembered
Busyness you reportSo the app can show how busy you found a place

None of this leaves your phone. It is not backed up to us, because there is no “us” to back it up to — there is no server behind this app. You can erase all of it at any time from Settings → Clear Saved Data, and it is removed entirely if you delete the app.

What leaves your device

The app has no server of its own, but the map needs map images, and those come from other organisations. When you open the Map tab, your device requests map tiles directly from:

As with visiting any website, those requests include your device’s IP address, which can indicate your approximate area. We never see these requests, and no identifier of ours is attached to them. We send nothing to either organisation about you or about what you look at in the app.

The app makes no other network requests. It does not phone home.

Things the app deliberately does not do

When you tap Navigate, the app hands the place’s coordinates to your phone’s own maps app. What happens after that is governed by that app’s privacy policy, not this one.

Children

Explore Anglesey is a travel guide suitable for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, including children, and contains no advertising, no chat and no links to social networks.

Photographs

Most photographs in the app were taken by other people and are used under Creative Commons licences, chiefly from Geograph Britain and Ireland and Wikimedia Commons. Every photographer is credited, with the licence and a link to the original, under Settings → Photo Credits in the app.

If you are a photographer and believe your work is credited incorrectly, please email us and we will correct or remove it.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you rights to see, correct and delete personal data an organisation holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to show or delete. The data on your phone is yours and under your control, and the Clear Saved Data button removes it.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts doing something that affects your privacy, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
